Great perspective

4 stars

Good version and deviation from the original story. Came to this book after reading reading The Time of the child, which I enjoyed much more, so I may be being hard on it by only giving it four stars.

James Lee Burke: Clete (2024, Grove/Atlantic, Incorporated) 3 stars

This series has maybe run it's course

3 stars

There is a long series of books featuring Dave Robichaux and Clete Purcel set in and around New Orleans. Kind of hard boiled vets who follow their own code, which is usually honest but not quite within the law. Didn't enjoy this as much as some earlier ones - I think I'm done with this series.

Peter May: The Night Gate (2021, Taylor & Francis Group) 3 stars

Enzo is good, but....

3 stars

One of the later books in the Enzo series. Set in France - one thread in WW2 and another during Covid in 2020. Premise is about keeping the Mona Lisa safe from the German invading army. This is good, but the Lewis trilogy set a very high bar.
